Milky Way using a Barn Door Tracker

I started taking Milky Way pictures about 2 years ago; but, quickly learned that motion was an enemy. I wanted to increase my exposure time, but cut down on the streaking caused by earth motion, rotation, and what have you. I built a manually-operated Barn Door Tracker to assist. Here is a 2 minute image taken from the Bonneville Salt Flats on 26 November. (Canon T2i, 119 seconds, f3.5, 18mm, ISO 1600)

The Andromeda Galaxy and Meteorite - Free from the Bonneville Salt Flats, UT

A view brought to you free of charge from the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah is this image of the Andromeda Galaxy, which is about 2.5 million light years away.  The meteorite to the north got a closer look. Enjoy!

Bonneville Salt Flats Reflection

Clouds over the Valley

I enjoy a good thunderstorm. Here's what remained after the main storm moved through the Salt Lake Valley. Taken with a Sony a500 DSLR camera.

Hummingbirds are quick and curious. These pictures were taken with a Sony a500 camera, tripod mounted over a summer time frame. You never know what how the picture will turn out until you try,
